Children's Literature, Illustrated, Religion, Christianity, Bible Stories, Children's Bible, Bible Study. In this book are some of the stories that I loved best, and Miss Seredy has made the lovely pictures that I wanted so much when I was a little girl. Since my birthday Bible was small and easty to handle, I began to read it. I could have cried with vexation, but like many other disappoinments, it really turned out very well. There were no pictures, and the print was very small.

It was small and bound in black limp leather.

That is the kind of Bible I expected, but the one that came was agreat disappointment. It had great brass clasps and the most marvelous colored pictures, and the pages were thick and hard to turn. One had to put it on the floor to look at it with comfort. The only one I had ever seen was a huge, leather book, much too big to hold. From author's note: On my eleventh birthday, an uncle asked what I wanted for a present. Contents: Abraham and Isaac Joseph and His Brethren The Little Brother, Benjamin Moses and the King's Daughter The Child Who Served in the Temple David, the Shepherd Boy The Little Boy King The Little Friend of Elias Saing John Jesus, the Prince of the World The Child Jesus in the Temple The Daughter of Jairus The Children Jesus Loved.
